New Huawei E180 USB stick sets new benchmark for mobile broadband communications

Coming with a rotatable USB connection, the E180 device combines HSPA connectivity and flash memory features in a sleek design

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, launched the E180 next generation mobile broadband device. Boasting High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) and an innovative swiveling USB connector, the device will be available globally in the second half of June 2008.

As the world' s slimmest HSPA USB stick to date, the only 10mm thick E180 is a highly compact device supporting the complete range of HSPA/UMTS and GSM/GPRS/EDGE network technologies, allowing fast uplink speed rates of up to 5.76Mbps and a downlink of up to 7.2 Mbps.

Equipped with a rotatable USB connector and compatible with Microsoft Windows (2000/Vista/XP) and Mac OSX, the Huawei E180 is a real plug-and-play device for mobile broadband users. As the world' s slimmest HSPA USB stick to date, the E180 is designed with a ultra slim rotatable USB connector, which can be turned by 270 degrees. This way, the USB connector can be stored safely without the need of an additional cover.

An interesting feature, setting the E180 apart from the competition, is the ability to use it as a flash memory. Its built-in MicroSD card slot supports up to 8GB memory card, turning the E180 into a portable storage device for documents, music or movies, eliminating the need for an additional USB memory stick. In addition, the device supports various useful services like SMS/MMS, PC voice, phone book, flow display and statistics.

Available in the second half of June 2008, the Huawei E180 will be launched to a global market including Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, North America and South Africa, targeting not only at business professionals but also younger and active customer groups as well as small office and home office (SOHO) users. Huawei offers network operators in-depth customization possibilities from logo placements and packaging to dashboard and software adjustments.

To date, Huawei has sold over 10 million units of mobile broadband products. Huawei is cooperating with 235 operators in 115 countries and regions and has achieved wide-range market coverage in Europe, America and Japan.
